A butterfly knife is constructed in
one of two ways, either a “sandwich construction” or
a “channel construction”.
Constructed butterfly knife is
assembled in layers that are either pinned or
screwed together. This method allows the pivot pins
to move freely and not bind when adjusted. Upon
closure, the blade resides between the layers.
Channel Constructed Butterfly knife Butterfly
knife is produced from one piece of material and not
layered. Each handle is solid and contains a groove
where the blade resides when closed. The groove is
created by folding, milling or cast and is
considered to be stronger than the sandwich
